Attrition
The Jeapordy Maze

For Julie

They've taken my world away,
Poor little babe in the cold,
She never guessed they'd desert her this way,
And She's crying all alone.

She's given up on all of her dreams
She's frightened to wish on a star
The bluebirds have left for a much warmer place
And Christmas looks unlikely to come.

Slowly the sun's warmth is creeping through
She's touched from above with a clearer view
And hope comes faintly as her prayers are answered
For the pain is lessened in God's greater arms.

Her eyes are sad though her mouth may smile
She's searching for something that's gone
Has known many partings in such a short time
That the days are both empty and long.

She's reaching out for the human race,
A smile of comfort, the touch of grace,
And deep down she knows that one day
She'll wake to beleve in her dreams.

Slowly the sun's warmth is creeping through
She's touched from above with a clearer view
And hope comes faintly as her prayers are answered
For the pain is lessened in God's greater arms.
